Viwango
Viwango is an independent Kenyan Civil Society Organization self-regulatory initiative. It exists to improve performance of CSOs through the promotion and application of minimum standards of excellence and voluntary independent certification.
Viwango is a unique and innovative Kenyan Civil Society Organisations’ Self-Regulatory Initiative. Viwango, an independent non-profit organisation, was registered in November 2011 under the companies’ act chapter 486 as a company limited by guarantee.
Viwango is led by an independent Board of Directors with leadership from across civil society in Kenya. Current members include Allavida, Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), Poverty Eradication Network (PEN), Voluntary Services Oversees (VSO), Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF), The Constitution and Reform Education Consortium of Kenya (CRECO), East Africa Philanthropy Network (EAPN), ActionAid, Peacenet and Act! Kenya.

During the assessment, the level of implementation of each standard is reviewed and the CSO is awarded points. An aggregate score is then calculated and it is upon this score that an organisation is rated.
